Because South Africa is an outdoor country with a good climate and excellent wildlife areas, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to pitch a tent and idle their time away amongst nature. Most campsites feature a variety of activities to keep you busy when you are not spending your time observing mother nature at her best – things such as hiking, canoeing, fishing, rock climbing and swimming are quite popular. You may also find that there is a historical attraction, not far from your camping grounds, where you may enjoy the rare privilege of exploring the past through fossilized remains or bushman rock art.
Of course, the accommodation available at the various South African camping sites also varies. The basic amenities offered at most camping grounds are restrooms, kitchen and laundry services. These may be extended to include a common recreational area that may feature a swimming pool, bar, dart board, table tennis table or snooker table. Yet again, for those who don’t enjoy getting dirty, there are the more luxurious options of fully furnished rooms which are available for hire. How you choose to enjoy nature is up to you, but you can be sure that it will be the experience of a lifetime.
