South Beach - uShaka Marine World

Located at the beginning of Durban’s Golden Mile, South Beach attracts holidaymakers in their droves. With uShaka Marine World as South Beach's major attraction, and in fact one of Durban's primary tourist attractions, the beach is often referred to as uShaka Beach, while the suburb bordering the beach is still referred to as South Beach.

As with the other beaches making up Durban's Golden Mile, South Beach benefits from life guard patrols and shark nets, making it a safe swimming beach for families. The beach, which boasts a large pier jutting out into the ocean, is cared for by uShaka Marine World, with many fun activities taking place on the beach and in the waves, including surfing and beach kayak tours.

South Beach offers easy access to the uShaka Village Walk, an African themed shopping area complete with restaurants and cafés. All these conveniences make South Beach an ideal destination for spending an entire day enjoying Durban’s sun, sand and surf.
