The Centre for Creative Arts was established in 1996 by the Development and Social Sciences department of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Their main objective is to create opportunities for artists, and to build creative bonds and relationships between the various art forms, such as music, poetry, dancing, filmmaking, art. Seminars, projects, concerts, training programs and workshops are also hosted by the Centre for Creative Arts, to create awareness and promote art to both the adult public and the youth. The centre is responsible for organizing four large festivals every year, of which one is the Time of the Writer Festival.
Out and About
Due to the tremendous success of the previous ten Poetry Africa International Poetry Festivals, it is almost a certainty that the poetry festival scheduled to take place between the 1st and the 6th of October 2007 will be even better than expected. The festival is held in Durban, and is one of the most well attended and supported arts festivals in South Africa.

It was on an inspired thought from a talented writer, Christopher Hope, that the Franschoek Literary Festival came into being. The goal was to inspire people to explore the imaginative world of reading, making it accessible and exciting as well as encouraging the art of reading within the local South African community.
