Cape Town Jazz Festival

The North Sea Jazz Festival (CT) celebrates its sixth anniversary with a new name - the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. The change was brought about by the separating of its two key organizers - Mojo Concerts from the Netherlands (who organize the North Sea Jazz Festival Den Haag) and espAfrika (PTY) Ltd in South Africa. espAfrika is now the sole organizer of this festival which is considered to be the most prestigious gathering on the continent. The Cape Town International Jazz Festival will have five stages where forty different acts will be performed. Artists at The Cape Town International Jazz Festivalwill be a 50/50 split between local and international performers. Some of the international artists booked are , Amina Figarova Septet , The Commodores, Terrence Blanchard , Dave Holland and Louie Vega with his twelve piece band Elements Of Fire.

Other bands at The Cape Town International Jazz Festival from abroad will be Yellow Jacket from the USA and Morris Goldberg and Ojoyo which is made up of South African musicians now living in NY.

Some African artists at The Cape Town International Jazz Festival are Sammy Webber and Swazi Dlamini. The bands will be 340ml , Mahotella Queens and The Young Bakuba Band.

The Cape town International Jazz Festival 2005 will take place on the 26th and 27th of March and is set to be hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre

Tickets for the Cape Town International Jazz Festival are currently selling at R399 for a two day pass and R265 for a one day pass and can be bought at Computicket.
