Despatch
Despatch is a residential town between Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage, on the southern bank of the Swartkops River. The name Despatch originated from the brick-fields in the area in the late 19th Century. The chimney of one of the brick-kilns can still be seen today. The design is in the municipal coat of arms. Despatch has excellent sports facilities and is a town of rugby enthusiasts. The Despatch Rose Show, held annually in October, and the Despatch Art Festival are popular events.
