Breathtaking stretches of clean beaches, landscapes blanketed in rich vegetation, a fascinating history and a variety of activities are just some of the reasons why Port St John’s has come to be known as the Jewel of the Wild Coast. This Eastern Cape destination has a diverse culture and locals are known to be laid back and pleasant. Port St John’s opens up a world of beauty, nature, relaxation and adventurous activities to visitors.

Varied and biodiverse landscapes, including forests, grasslands, wetlands and swamps, have created the perfect habitat for a range of animals and birds, with nature reserves such as the Cwebe and Dwesa Nature Reserves, the Luchaba Nature Reserve, Silaka Nature Reserve and the Hluleka Nature Reserve located just outside the town. Hiking and bird watching have become two popular activities in Port St John’s, but visitors can also enjoy whale and dolphin watching excursions, horse riding trails, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities. Its rugged and sometimes dangerous coastline adds a touch of mystery to the town, and offers visitors an unforgettable holiday with many perfect sunsets on its secluded beaches.
