Canadian Embassy in South Africa
The Canadian Embassy has four offices in South Africa. These operate either as Consulates or High Commissions of Canada in South Africa. The main High Commission of Canada has its office in Pretoria where you will also find the Department of Citizenship and Immigration responsible for dealing with applications from South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zambia and Malawi. Operating hours for general inquires at the High Commission is from 08:00 am to 12:00 noon on Mondays to Fridays. The Pretoria High Commission of Canada offers the most services to individuals. Visas and Immigration are handled here. South Africans desiring to vacation in Canada will require a Temporary Resident Visa which can be obtained in Pretoria. The office also provides full consular services and assistance for Canadians in South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mauritius and Namibia. The High Commission of Canada also deals with trade and investment as well as development assistance services.
The Consulate General of Canada in Cape Town is located in the St. George's Mall and can be contacted via telephone on +27 21 423 5240 or by e-mail on cptwn@international.gc.ca. Cape Town's Consulate General of Canada works the following hours: 08:00 am to 4:45 pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 08:00 am to 1:30 pm. The Consulate General in Cape Town provides Canadians residing in or vacationing in the Western Cape Province with consular services such as emergency passports. The Consulate of Canada in Durban is situated in Stamford hill. This consulate can be contacted via telephone on +27 31 303 9695 or on e-mail vnaidu@trematon.co.za. The hours of operation for the consulate in Durban are 08:30 am to 02:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays. This consulate provides some consular services to Canadians in South Africa and has got passport application forms.
