The beautiful Ashbey’s Galleries was started by Edwin Rivers Ashbey in 1891 as a humble picture framing and art material shop, and has become renowned within the art and antique arena for its exquisite pieces.
Description:
It was only in 1962 that the lovely Ashbey’s Galleries finally found its home on 43-51 Church Street, having changed ownership in 1914 to the legendary Robinson family.
It’s through this gallery that some of the most talented South African artists have exhibited their work, such as J.H.Pierneef, Irma Stern and Tinus de Jongh, to name just a few.
