Held annually in Oudtshoorn, the KKNK draws large crowds of locals and tourist to this ordinarily quiet town. Typically held around Easter time, this is a vibrant festival with a friendly atmosphere and much to see and do.
Description:
This fun-filled festival is a platform for new Afrikaans talent as well as the Afrikaans culture as a whole. Each festival season features a number of exciting events including a live concert with several of South Africa's leading Afrikaans musicians. Also included on the Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees program are student theater, dramas, music theater, comedies, children’s theater, music recitals including contemporary and classical, readings, spiritual inspiration and debates.
In addition to the exciting performing arts of the KKNK, the festival also has a massive craft market and flea market. The Klein Karoo Nationale Kunstefees is a major event on South Africa's calendar not to be missed. So be sure to book your ticket and accommodation some time in advance.
