When:
TBA, Sunday, 27 April 2008

Where:
Voortrekker Street, Philippolis, Free State

The Philippolis Witblits Festival is an annual event in the little town of Philippolis in the Free State, which showcases an array of ‘witblits’, or ‘white lightning’, South Africa’s own Moonshine.

Description:

The Philippolis Witblits Festival is a well-attended event. Everyone in the family is invited to attend and there is a variety of entertainment, as well as local food and drink to keep the family content!

It is here that you will get to experience some of the oldest family recipes in the production of ‘witblits’ or ‘mampoer’. Some firm favourites that you will be able to get your hands on are Wurm Sous with 70% alcohol, Nyati JJJ 60%, Akkedis Bult Witblits 55% and Hanzet Witblits at 43%.

Of course it must be noted that although this is a festival of fun, with such high levels of alcohol available people should be cautioned that it will not take much to be intoxicated, so with safety as a priority make sure you have a safe ride home for all your friends and family, and enjoy!

The Pilippolis Wtiblits Festival will take place from 27 April to 29 April.
