STORMERS RUGBY PLAYERS AND CAPE ROYALE LUXURY HOTEL & SPA JOIN FORCES FOR FIRST EVER SA RED BULL FLUGTAG
Some of the top Stormers rugby players will be joining forces with the prestigious Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa, located in Greenpoint, to take part in the first ever South African Red Bull Flugtag as team Royale Storm.
Red Bull Flugtag is an event in which competitors fly homemade, human-powered flying machines. The flying machines are launched off a 6m ramp high into the sea, hopefully taking flight.
The inaugural South African event will take place on Sunday, 9 December at the V&A Waterfront and is open to the public at no charge (from 11h00 to 17h00).
Only 45 teams were chosen out of 400 entries, with Cape Royale’s Marketing Manager Kim Cochrane, designing the Royale Storm entry.
Says Cochrane: "Our royal experience at the hotel was the inspiration. So I designed a royal carriage, made to fly. This resulted in our successful Royale Storm entry." She says that Equinox Spa manager Natalie Berger will be the pilot and the "queen" on the day, with top Stormers rugby players the force behind the vessel, "pushing our 'queen' off the 6m ramp, hopefully taking an exciting and breathtaking royal flight."
Prizes on the day for the winning teams include international plane tickets, Red Bull stunt plane experiences as well as sky diving opportunities.
