BRAAI OFF BETWEEN CAPE COBRAS CRICKET TEAM AND TOP CHEFS IN AID OF CHARITY ON HERITAGE DAY
JOIN FREE BRAAI DAY CELEBRATIONS AT 1800 DEGREES RESTAURANT IN GREEN POINT
Heritage Day will be celebrated in true South African style in the heart of Green Point this year with a braai off between some of the most popular cricket players of the Cape Cobras team who will compete against the top chefs of the prestigious 1800 Degrees restaurant (situated at the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa).
The braai off on Monday, 24 September 2012 between the Cape Cobras (Rory Kleinveldt, Justin Kemp, Johan Louw and Paul Adams) and the 1800 Degrees chefs (under the leadership of head chef Jonathan Gargan) will determine the best braai master in Cape Town between the two teams. Judges for the competition will include some of the best food bloggers including Nina Timm (www.my-easy-cooking.com) and Anél Potgieter (www.lifeisazoobiscuit.com), as well as surfer/model/entrepreneur Roxy Louw and TV presenter / actress / author Vicky Davis.
The event will take place from 11 am in front of the Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa (47 Main Road, Green Point) and will be open to the public at no cost. A multitude of refreshments will be on sale throughout the day including boerewors rolls, steak rolls, chops, roosterbrood and prego rolls, and entertainment will be provided by the Cape Town Minstrels and DJ Stoofie. Further entertainment for children will also be provided.
A traditional South African buffet will be served at 1800 Degrees Restaurant at R195 per person. Reservations for the buffet are essential, but the braai festivities in front of 1800 Degrees are open to the public at no charge. For every item sold on the day, 1800 Degrees restaurant will make a donation to the Heideveld community (www.itsamazing.org.za).
Says Rey Franco, Food and Beverage Manager of Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa: “There is no better way to celebrate Heritage Day than bringing people from all age groups and cultural backgrounds together – all for a good cause! We encourage everyone to come and join the festivities, which guarantees to be loads of fun!”
