International star Zonke will be back in her home town in November. The multi-talented vocalist, performer, songwriter and producer grew up in the Port Elizabeth township of KwaZakhele, and has gone on to become one of South Africa's top stars. She will be performing in The Boardwalk's International Conference Centre on Saturday, November 16.
Zonke's big break came when she was recognised by a producer who introduced her to a German band called "Jazz Cantina". She wrote a track for them called "Africa My Motherland". To cut a long story short, "Jazz Cantina" was so impressed they came back to South Africa along with their producer and engineers and recorded her music which was released under the "Culture Clan" and won many awards in both Germany and South Africa.
Since then Zonke has established herself as a solo artist, with her beautiful voice and presence on stage helping rocket her to the top of the charts. Her first solo album called "Soulitary", which went global. This was followed by her second album "Life, Love and Music". Zonke's latest studio album, the self-written, arranged and produced masterpiece Ina Ethe instantly sold multi-platinum units across the country and remains in the charts. In August, Sony Music Entertainment Africa signed a multi-album and joint venture partnership with Zonke. The partnership takes the form of a joint venture between Zonke's Leely Music label and Sony Music Entertainment Africa. Zonke is driven by the process of creating music and sharing it with the world - it is this powerful exchange through song which has been captured on her latest DVD "Give And Take - Live" which was performed before a capacity audience on July 5, 2013 at the Lyric Theatre in Gauteng. Every aspect of the production has been conceptualized by Zonke and sees her creation as a masterpiece from the soul.
On Saturday, November 16 feel inspired to connect with your friends, family and Port Elizabeth born and raised Zonke.
