Cape Town has a wonderful array of activities to fill your weekend with, but should you find yourself with nothing to do on a warm summer evening, then Kirstenbosch is the place to be!
Picture a stunning sunset behind rugged but soft grassy banks, the atmosphere is filled with a sense of excitement; people are picnicking and relaxed, enjoying the company of family and friends. Anticipation slowly builds as time moves on, excited chatter can be heard,m and then it finally arrives, an hour of pure music pleasure!
Thankfully this is a regular opportunity that people can take advantage of and is hosted at the astonishingly beautiful Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town.
Fokofpolisiekar, with its more than controversial name, is commonly referred to as Polisiekar, “police car”, or amongst the Afrikaans fans as Die Bendeis, “the gang”. Nevertheless this Afrikaans punk rock band, which was originally started with the objective in shocking the generally conservative Afrikaans community, went on to make South African history when the first Afrikaans single was officially play-listed on the famed 5fm radio station.
Since then they have released their much anticipated second album called ‘Die Swanesang’. So if you’re wondering what to do with your Sunday make a note, as Polisiekar is set to make for an interesting evening!
