The UGE 150/220 was created by Eugene and Michele Botha who began Adventure Racing in 2002 while still attending Wits University. It was soon to be the reason why uge.events AR series was born into the South African arena.

Description:

This gruelling Adventure Racing event requires the contestants to be disciplined in paddling, trekking, mountain biking and rope work. The distance is set at 150 to 220 km with teams made up of four competitors.

It was during Eugene and Michele’s experience in Adventure Racing that they began to realise that the sport was limited in exposure and presence in South Africa. Thus the decision to take a less physical participation in the sport was made and they instead began working behind the scenes organizing long distance and sprint race events.

The Uge Salomon 150 / 220 km adventure race, a part of a larger adventure series, will take place from 25 to 27 January 2007 in Harrismith. This particular race will feature to distances to cater for various experience levels.
