The gruelling Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon is not to be taken lightly, as it covers 232 kilometres in extreme desert temperature,s requiring runners to be self sufficient over the seven days.
Description:
Runners are certainly pushed to the test, and without proper preparation will find themselves inadequate to finish the course.
Some of the challenges runners should be aware of are such things as heat, the weight of their backpacks, especially over such a long distance and the fact that they will be required to hold all their provisions for the next 7 days, and blistering.
With such a task ahead of the runners, it is of great importance that runners prepare properly if they are to succeed in enduring to the end.
The Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon, affectionately known as ‘Big Daddy’ in the trail running arena, is also regarded as one of the hardest marathons to take place. Regardless, the KAEM still attracts those from all over the world in a challenge to be the best.
