This is a beautiful, romantic Egyptian epic, showcasing Verdi’s fervour and splendour, is indeed a performance not to be missed.

Description:

This is African opera at its best, directed by the talented Laurence Dale with the help of a wonderfully gifted South African cast. Stefan Louw plays Radames and takes his place as lead tenor, Violina Anguelov plays Amneris, Amonasro is performed by baritone Ntsikelelo Mali, bass Otto Maidi plays Ramfis, and the lovely High Priestess is sung by soprano Kelebogile Boikanyo.


The stage designer responsible for this beautiful setting is Dipu Gupta, assisted by lighting designer Declan Randall. Vincent de Kort is the wonderful celebrity conductor, making his debut with the artistic Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and special guest Katarina Jovanovic is taking lead female role.
