Woyzeck on the Highveld is an amazing adaptation of writer George Buchner’s famed play. Interestingly it’s through the puppets that this story is told, with an amazing effect.
Description:
This fabulous production owes its credit to the combined efforts of the Handspring Puppet Company and Director William Kentridge.
It’s a story with strong emotions attached to it. In this re-told version, the tale follows the character Woyzek in 1956 Johannesburg, working as a migrant worker where murder, jealousy and the personal struggle occur in a society that takes little notice.
It certainly is a privilege to watch the workmanship of these dedicated puppeteers as they take you down a deep emotional road.
