The Full Monty is a wonderful adaptation of the Academy Award nominated 1997 hit movie by the same name. It really is a ‘must see’, so mark it of on your calendar today.
The Full Monty is an unlikely story told by the four time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally. It’s a story that tells the narrative of six men of various ages, shapes and currently unemployed steelworkers. With life looking a bit grim the men decided to do the unlikely and strip for a couple of extra dollars.
Thus what seemed to be a once off strip down to a basic G-string turns into a huge success with the local ladies convincing the men they could make it big if they do the “Full Monty”. Thus what’s left for these six men to pull this stunt successfully while still keeping their dignity!
Regardless no one can doubt their perseverance and determination to get out of the plight they find themselves in.
The well known director and producer of West End, David Bownes, will take up the task of directing this local production with the assistance of the renowned musical director Clinton Zerf, choreographer Henri Noppe, scenic and lighting designer Denis Hutchinson, costume designer Lyn Leventhorpe and lastly the talented cast that will have you feeling every emotion in the book!
The Full Monty will run at the Artscape Opera House from 26 July to 17 August 2008. Tickets range in price from R190.00 to R300.00.
