krymyhier,
Im not sure what you mean by "Becoming aware of ones self translates to becoming selfish" , can you elaborate on that, because I dont quite agree in the sence that I read it.
What is "ones self" that you are refering to? When I am in a state of awareness, the last thing I can be is selfish. To be in a state of awareness is to be aware of ones senses in the present moment.
Ever heard the phrase "I am not that which I can observe".
Well it speaks for itself. If you can observe your body, if you can observe or be aware of your thoughts and feelings, then what exactly are you if you are able to observe them / be aware of them? For me, when I focus my attention instead of letting my attention be captured, my sense of awareness and of who i am increases, this sense of awareness grows outwards to include my suroundings, and it can keep expanding. I can tell you something, at times like these I feel more conected to the universe, then simply becoming selfish and self consumed.
Maybe being aware of ones self has different meaning to both of us.
