And Niquie, it is widely eaten in South Africa.

I believe that if you want to understand someone else's culture you need to involve yourself in it. That goes for the food too.

And if VCI had a mexico.com forum and I sent you over there to moderate, would I or the native members expect you to have PREVIOUSLY involved yourself in the culture AND the cuisine?

Or do you think the fun of joining a new forum is the friendliness of the native members who can "take you by the hand" and draw you into their world thereby making you want to experience the country and its people first hand?

I'v eaten them, but they are not a real favorite. They are usually too tough or the brine is too strong.

Now, hold onto your panties, girlfriend...I am going to pickle my own!

Want me to send you a bottle?

Sorry Niquie, maybe I was not all too clear. I was specifically refering to South Africa with it's many cultures. What I was trying to say is that the white South African hear about what say for instance the South African Indian people eat without necessarily trying any of their cuisine. I personally feel that in order to really understand my fellow countrymen I need to be become involved in their way of doing things. Our's is maybe the most diverse country in the world. A country where first and third world cultures flows into one another but also where these culture co-exist alongside each other.

Sorry once again if I gave the wrong impression, as english is not my first language I sometimes tend to blunder into something with the best of intense just to realise after a while it was interpretted in another way.

Oh good heavens no! I'd like to say I'd rather starve first, but I think I'd probably eat the flippin pig's feet rather than starve. I just hope it will never come to that.

Konsalik....

...no worries...but I think I did misunderstand you. I thought I was receiving an admonishment because I did NOT say that chicken heads and feet are part of South African cuisine. To be perfectly honest, I didn't know that until I read it here. But that is the joy of these forums. You make friends AND you get an education! How good can it get...???

And if English isn't your first language, I'd never have guessed it. You must have a talent for languages.

Liza....so it's "no" to my picked pigs feet? ? I am crushed!

Which reminds me, when I make the brine, I will put in a healthy amount of crushed red pepper. I LOVE SPICY FOOD!
