My pen pal from Jo'berg sent me a wonderful parcel full of all sorts of things. One being a really nice cookbook. I've run across an ingrediant called, "Aromat". Can someone explain what this is or give me an idea of a good substitute? My pen pal figured we would have this, but I've searched and searched for it. We may call it something else and just don't realize it.
Also, any good ideas for uses of Cape Velvet? That stuff if yummy, and so far I've tried it in coffee and over ice cream. Any other good drink ideas? Danke, Sassy. |

If you put "knorr aromat" into google it will give you a plethora of website where you could buy it. As for a substitute, I can't think of anything that's really the same. Aromat is mostly salty, so I guess just using salt instead would be allright. Cape Velvet, I am so envious! Best thing to do is to drink it ![]()

Aromat is a yellow, salty "if it has no flavour, throw on some Aromat" foodstuff. I believe that it is predominantly MSG.
Omit the Aromat from your recipe and let the natural flavours dominate. Don't get me wrong: I eat Aromat out of the shaker all the time - it isn't so much that it tastes good as that the salt, fat and MSG combination is addictive. It's also very bad for you. |
