Why do we go on about Religion and politics to such an extent that it wares us out,... in the UK today one of the the the main topics of conversation on television and radio is food!!!! On this site we are all mainly S'African and could exchange so many good ideas about food, why don't we do it? we all know what we loved as kids, apart from a Braai.... Let us exchange ideas, questions and answers... Come on guys there must be more to this forum than those two sordid subjects previously mentioned Or at least post to some of those other topics that have never been highlighted by yellow for months.....????? Liza Now we are talking real food! The secret to a real Bobotie is to bake it, rolled as a loaf in an eartenware dish till slightly browned and and set, then only pour over the mixture of milk and eggs combined with a spoon full of curry paste, cook till egg mixture sets, if not brown enough to your taste, place under grill for few minutes, and serve with fluffy white rice, and mango chutney (and not yellow rice with raisens) This is the way my grandmother learnt from her great friend and writer C.Louis Leipoldt in the fifties And what about Pickled fish? I sold this idea to my French inlaws, and they have never stopped making it! We have so much to thank the Malays for being the think tank behind so much of our cuisine...... MW
