I recently ordered a Cape Malay cookbook over the net and was very disappointed. The book had hardly any recipes in. I was hoping someone could suggest a really good Cape Malay cookbook that has a large variety of Cape Malay recipes in. OR Do you know someone who possibly would know?

Joyful, welcome to the board!

What is the book you ordered called?
Are you looking for any recipe in particular?
I have a "traditional South African cookbook" and it has quite a few recipes in it that seems very Cape Malay to me (although I'm not from the Cape and am not very familiar with Malay cooking, so I might be wrong)
I'd be happy to post some of the recipes on here.

Oh, where did you order the book from?

Angry Re Cape Malay Cooking

Liza81

I would rather not say the name of the book I’m scared I it would be slanderous. I bought it of a South African website. I enjoyed the pictures and that was that. I was the twit on the other end that thought I was buying a recipe book but just got pictures instead with a few recipes. Enough about that.

Cass Abrahams book The Culture and Cuisine of the Cape Malays have been highly recommended to me recently so I’m trying to find a copy. I have tried the http://www.kalahari.net , but they seem to be out of stock. I’m really eager to find out more about the Cape Malay way of cooking. If you have any Cape Malay recipes handy please post them on the forum.

Thank for your kindness it much appreciate.

May your days full of sunshine.

I'm sure as long as you don't talk slack about the authors of the book it won't be slander. It would just be nice to know to avoid that book.

I'll see about posting some recipes this week.

I bought Cass Abrams's recipe book a while ago and although I am not crazy about the layout, the recipes are good.

The best book by far with nearly 200 authentic recipes is The Cape Malay Cookbook by Faldela Williams. Wonderful cuisine, unique to the Western Cape!
