Tribute to Lucky Dube, RIP

Hi South Africans,
We in Kenya really loved your Lucky Dube and we are very shocked that anyone would want to spill his precious blood. We are really very traumatised, beyond belief and in deep grief at the loss. Now we understand how ugly the crime situation is in SA, we are really very sorry for you guys. Kenya is also bad, but they haven't killed any Legend yet; luckily (no pun). Actually we are not lucky at all because we don't have ANYONE any where close to Lucky Dube. That is why I am surprised to hear that he was not so popular in South Africa................??! How is this possible?
Anyway, the reason I took the time to come here is to let you know that Lucky brought alot of hope and a positive message to people in my country Kenya and many other African countries. I believe now that he has died, his popularity will skyrocket evenmore. Angry, Depressed and Desperate people were calmed down by his music, really! Now I heard that some hardened jailbirds who caused voilent crime in SA have made a written declaration to change because, as Lucky fell as one of thier victims it finally dawned on them what harm they have caused in peoples lives.

Maybe SA should now start playing Lucky Dube songs to these prisoners, make them start thinking about what they are doing? Incase you find this simple recommendation ridiculous, then you have not yet come to fully understand exactly who Lucky Dube was, and the power his music holds for struggling people all over Africa. Look at some of the fan comments on YouTube to get an idea, some are calling him a prophet now. 60-80 Thousand fans went for his concert in Uganda! Maybe some of these thugs are turning to crime as an outlet for pain and jealousy. But they are still human beings, many of them victims of something themselves.. Like many in Africa, they are just lost and confused. Lucky understood this, and his music is like mind medicine to many Africans. Prisons may get them off the streets, but only love and spiritual/ concious awakening will keep them out. Yes, I believe it's that simple.

Kenyans hold SA and the South Africans in the highest esteem. We are proud of your developments and achievements and wish to be like you one day, so I personally wish you all the best as you tackle your crime and racial problems.

Thank you for coming here and telling us how Lucky Dube touched your life and the lives of others. We were proud to call Lucky Dube South African, and are very saddened by his loss. He is the second prominent musician to lose his life in a botched hijacking. Jazz great Gito Baloi was killed in 2004. Mail & Guardian Online:

If you have seen the movie Tsotsi you will see the haunting mindset of so many of the criminals in South Africa and how they are dehumanised. While Tsotsi is fiction, it is a powerful movie because it portrays a very real situation. It is somewhat ironic that the actor who plays the lead role, Presley Chweneyagae was charged with fraud earlier this year for being in possession of a fake drivers' license.

Yes, thankyou Sir. I will research on that film you recommended; Kenya ia also having a new monster of dehumanised youths calling themselves "Mungiki" who go around beheading and blackmailing people; the beginnings of something so ugly and dumbfounding that many Kenyans refuse to even talk about it, or give evidence about the perpetrators. But this phenomenon, where it seems Human minds are spiralling into mental free fall into an abyss of pre-historic barbarism state of mind started (tentative guess) in the areas where extremists-- be it Islamic Fundamentalists, Nazi's, Racists, tribalists or the goons in Burma- teach and practice their deadly ideology. One can say the whole junk first got world wide attention (exkl. the attrocities of the 3rd Reich, Rwanda, Bosnia etc.) with the suicide bombers in the Middle East and the trend that gave birth to September 11. In other words, THE WHOLE WORLD is affected, not just SA. Events happening in other countries have a direct impact EVERYBODY. The poignancy of this hit me first with Sept 11., and more recently with the senseless murder of Lucky Dube. Before, I NEVER even imagined taking active interests in the SA Crime situation, or inter-racial problems, nor did I even know that SAans where unhappy with Thabo Mbeki, I had no idea; and frankly couldn't have cared less let alone take active interest at all. But when Lucky died, an event that is so painful for me, SA's problem became my personal problem. Now I want to know, what the Hell is going on there and why?! What can I Do to help?!

I firmyl believe that ALL our destiny's are inter-connected, it is our common divine destiny authoured by God. No need saying it's black, white, islamist etc.. Actually it's PEOPLE, Human beings like you and me that we should be addressing.

Maybe something will happen in DARFUR or IRAQ that will directly affect you for this point to sink in and for you to change your focuss from looking only at SA, but rather looking at WORLD EVENTS and pondering them. Whats does it all mean, I don't know..

I rather think that if everyone at least changes HIM or HERSELF, and CONSEQUENTLY, TIRELESS using EVERY OPPORTUNITY to spread messages of love, peace and tolerance; that we will have a better chance at beating this scrounge of evil that has now gripped the whole world.

PEACE Brother!

The South African man killed by South Africans said:

"Yeah,
WE are the Victims every time; however I believe, as I did when I recorded the album “Together as one” that when we should always, ALWAYS be optimistic. Y’know the track “Different colors, one people” on the Victims Album is re-enforcing my message that we should all UNITE, irrespective of race, color or creed. And when we read in the bible about creation, the Bible told us that God created man in his image, but he did not say whether this man he created was white or black. And so when I see a black man, I see the image of God; and when I see a white man I see the image of God; and that is the way it should be. We belong together".

CELEBRATE LIFE (Album RESPECT)

by Lucky Dube

Lyrics:
We're living in the world
With alot of crazy people
We're living in the world
With psychopaths
Everyone of them wants to rule
The world
Quote:
Some people have the front row seat
At the top of the world
Some people have nothing but just a life
Problems are there left and right
Liars, cheaters, politicians and back stabbers
Making life a little bit more unbearable
It is a give or take world
So you got to take what you can when you can
Make the best of it. Wo!!

Chorus
say yeah!! Celebrate life
Say yeah!! Life is good.

We're living in the world
With demented people
There's a man standing on the edge of the bridge
Ready to end it all
Some people don't know what life is worth
Quote:
Some people have the front row seat at the gates of hell
You could be having problems right now
But there's no problem worth your life
People fight to stay alive every day
Cause they know, life is worth more than worries.
So you got to take what you can when can
Make the best of it, Wo!! Ho!! Wo!! Ho!!

Chorus
say yeah!! Celebrate life
Say yeah!! Life is good.
