Electricity supply in South Africa

What is the overall meaning of the Eskom problem?
Do you think they can solve the problem?

My opinion is that they do supply electricity to too many people.Electricity they do not have.It is going to give our economy hard time. What can a developed country do without power>

Terug na die ou dae

Koos, I tell you it has occurred to me to get lamps, maybe candles, too, and a good wood stove, like when we lived in a nice house in SA, that did not have electricity, but was wired for it. I am actually returning to this land, this South Africa, where I left 29 years ago to come to the US. Now I have no one here anymore. Bless my own heart, but I have all my sibs there and my dear old mother, who has Alzheimer's.
I have wondered if the electricity problem could be due to lack of efficiency and know-how. I was told that a transformer had to be ordered from the US. Not good management, to say the least.

The whole problem around the current electricity supply, or lack thereof, boils down to bad planning from Eskom's side. They did not plan ahead and errected additional power stations when they had to. They are currently busy addressing this shortfall but it can take up to ten years before they can fully supply the demand.
Just as a matter of interest, South Africa is not a developed country, it is still being classified as a developing country.
