TRACING FAMILY ROBERT STUART CARMYLIE BELL KYDD

I WOULD LIKE INFORMATION ON MY LATE FATHER IN LAW WHO DIED IN PRETORIA 1957. HE WAS ROBERT STUART CARMYLIE BELL KYDD ALTHOUGH IT IS BELIEVED THE ORIGINAL SURNAME WAS BELL-KYDD. HE WAS BORN IN NOVEMBER 1900/1901 AND SERVED IN FRANCE DURING FIRST WORLD WAR ALTHOUGH WITH WHICH REGIMENT I DO NOT KNOW. IT IS ALLEGED THAT HE WAS BORN ON THE CARMYLIE ESTATE IN SCOTLAND ALTHOUGH NO RECORD OF HIS BIRTH CAN BE FOUND. HOWEVER A VISIT TO CARMYLIE CHURCHYARD REVEALED THERE WERE A LOT OF KYDDS AND BELLS BURIED THERE.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO TRY AND ESTABLISH WHO HIS PARENTS MIGHT HAVE BEEN AS I DONT KNOW THEIR FORNAMES.

HE CAME TO SA AND WAS MARRIED AND HAD THREE CHILDREN BY HIS FIRST WIFE (JOEY I THINK) AND REMARRIED AND HAD TWO CHILDREN BY HIS SECOND WIFE (MARY lOUISE) tHE TWO BOYS NAMES WERE ARCHIBALD BELL (WHEREABOUTS UNKNOWN) AND ATHOL RONALD (DECVEASED 1992)

Hello I am currently researching the name Robert Stewart Kydd. He was born abt 1879- 1880 in Barry, Angus, Scotland. His father was from Carmyllie. This Robert Stewart Kydd was married in 1902 in Dalkeith Scotland.

could he or a sibling possibly be the parent of your Robert Stuart Carmyllie Bell Kydd.

also not I did a search in Ntiona Archives of South Africa Index and see a entry for a Kydd, Robert Stewart Carnylie, divorce to Stella May Kydd born Landman. any relation.

Now to answer your questions. I don't know if the Robert Kydd you mention was a sibling, could he not be a cousin? My father-in-law was married twice, and from his first marriage he had two daughters (Ones name was Grace I think and a son also Robert Stuart Carmylie Bell who was also married a couple of times. ) I am not sure but one of his wives name was Stella, this is difficult as I didn't know any of them at all. However The son of Robert jnr is also named Robert,Stuart Carmylie and last I saw of him was in Durban in the late '8o's. He also has a son Robert Stuart who must be in his late twenties early thirties. My husband Atholl died in 1992 and had a son Robert Stuart Carmylie Bell by his first wife Iris. Hi Wozzie.

My late father who passed away last year was born in 1949. I dont know much about his fater but think it might be the same gentalman that you are refering to.

He told me that his father died when he was around 7/8 years old and that was in PTA.

His mother the late Josie remarried to a Hendrik De Beer after getting a divorce from Robert Stuart Carmylie Kydd.

Once the divorce was final there was to be no mention of my fathers father in the house, All history died with Josie who never spoke of her marrige to Robert Stuart Carmylie Kydd again.

I am also named Robert Stuart Carmylie Kydd after my father, born 1971 in Viginian , Free state,RSA.

I have a sister , Yolanda . She now has 4 children
i myself have 3 girls, Nasstassia,Nadene and Chloe( 11, 8 ,7 )

My wife's name is Michelle and we live on the south coast near Margate RSA.

I don't know if Robert will reply to you soon. The Robert I am talking about is my late father in law who was born in Scotland but died in 1957 in Pretoria. I know he married in S/africa and he had a son by his first marriage who was also named R S C bell Kydd. He had a son born in 1949 also R>S>C>B Kydd who married a Stella Landman and their son was called R S C B Kydd( the one whose reply is on the site.) The last time I saw Bertie (1949) he was single and living with somebody I don't know if he married again or not as I last saw him in the late 80's and he is now deceased.

My husband (child of the second marriage) also had a son R S C B Kydd but he has never been divorced.

Maybe you could look in the Margate telephone directory for Roberts telephone number
