Dear Mufasa,
Thank you! Not only did you give me all of that information about your country but you did it so fast! The project is due tomorrow and you replied so fast! You gave me almost all of the information I needed. You also proved a very good point about the racism thing. Thank you again for helping me out so much. StudyHotGirl |

I forgot a few questions. These are about the government.
What is your money made of? And how long is a person the leader of your country? And back to education. Do boys and girls go to school? Are they separated? Do you have year round schooling? Thanks, StudyHotGirl |

Hi all
I see Mufasa has already provided you with some answers. Elections are held every five years and the president is limited to a maximum of 2 terms of office. The voting age is 18 years. The South Africa currency is the Rand (100 cents = R1). There is compulsory education for both boys & girls between the ages of seven and 15 years or pupils reaching the ninth grade, whichever occurs first . The final year of school is matric or grade 12. There are some single sex schools, but the majority of schools are co-educational. In the public schools the academic year is broken down in to 4 terms from early January to the beginning of December. You can see the public schools calender at: http://www.gov.za/sa_overview/schools.htm There are also a number of find independent schools but are usually very expensive. Any government related info go to http://www.gov.za Another valuable source of information on South AFrica is http://www.ananzi.co.za That is a South AFrican search engine, but you'll find most of what you're looking for there without actually performing a search. Tertiary education: South Africa has 18 universities. University of the Wi****ersrand http://www.wits.ac.za Medical University of Southern Africa (MEDUNSA) Potchefstroom University Rand Afrikaans University Rhodes University http://www.ru.ac.za Stellenbosch University http://www.sun.ac.za University of Cape Town http://www.uct.ac.za University of Durban - Westville University of Natal (Durban) http://www.und.ac.za University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg) http://www.unp.ac.za University of the Orange Free State University of Port Elizabeth University of Pretoria http://www.up.ac.za University of South Africa University of the Western Cape University of Transkei University of the North University of Zululand There are also Technikons which provide a more technical and less theoretical or academic type education of which there are many. You need to have completed matric (grade 12) with a university endorsement in order to qualify for university entrance. A university endorsement requires that you studied English and Afrikaans (although this is meant to be changing soon) amongst other criteria. Good luck with your project. I've got my own test to learn for now. Cheers |

Glad I could help out.
My test went fine. It was just a economics test, not a major so relatively easy. Anyway, hope that project went alright. Mufasa I believe you're in London. How long have you been there? |
