I'm thinking of spending a week in Cape Town; could anyone give me advice on where the best places to visit would be? I don't really know that much about Cape Town at all, except that I would like to visit Table Mountain - as you can tell - need lots of travel tips!!

Hey Chaney , try this out
Lonely planet is a great travel book the best that i have used. Have a look at this link though, if your only going to be there for a week, maybe this will have a few suggestions.
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/destinat...ica/cape_town/ Are you visiting S.A, if so, and your going to be seeing more then just Cape Town, then maybe you should have a look at the Lonely Planet book for S.A http://shop.lonelyplanet.com/country...TOKEN=23577594 South Africa, Lesotho & Swaziland 5th Edition Simon Richmond Published January 2002 ISBN: 186450322X 688 pp / 44 pp colour / 100 maps US$24.99 - AUS$37.4 - UKŁ14.99 Part of the series: Travel Guides good luck and enjoy your trip Jase |

Hi Chaney,
If you get there during winter (which is now) ..... you've picked the ****tiest time of the year - to put it euphorically! And then it also depends on whether you are mobile or not. I will assume you will be. Apart from the mountain (its cold up there !!!!!) you should visit "The Kastell" and walk in van Riebeck's footsteps. Travel to Bloubergstrand and get a panorama view of Table Mountain. Try the Calamari at the Chapman's Peak Hotel in Hout Bay (15 km outside C.Town). You can do that on the way to Cape Point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. The waters don't mix so you should be able to see the separation line. And for the life of you, contain your curiosity and stay out of the locations!!! If you are so inclined, take a trip to Robben Island where Mandela was incarcerated. There are lots of places for eating out. If you like fish find the Harbour Cafe at Sea Point and Panama Jack (famous for their crayfish! only alternative is rumpsteak for the come-along-non crayfish-eaters) at the yacht harbour .... if they still exist (been away for so long and lost touch a bit, but you'll find out quickly when you are there). Of course, everybody will tell you to go to the Waterfrond, where all the tourists "must" go. Trust you will enjoy it there, but prepare for the Cape of Storms at this time of year. Cheers, Rob |

Jase,
I want to be in Oz for Christmas, planning on getting there mid-November, meeting up with mate to spend Christmas on the Whitsunday islands, then on to do Sydney for New Year, then Perth - can't wait, wish I could afford to go now, but saving like mad at the moment!! Hope you're having a great time in Melbourne. |

Rob,
Thanks for all the info on Cape Town, I'm not getting out there until beginning of November, so hopefully it would have warmed up a bit by then! I'd like to go to Cape Point now, and Robben Island sounds worth a trip. Thanks, Chantelle |
