I have just read with interest the article on the formation of a website for fans of the chaka zulu mini series and it got me thinking of a king who was just as powerful as chaka himself, his name MZILIKAZI. This King was the founding father of the Matebele people which now reside in zimbabwe.Mzilikazi was a great military genious just like chaka and this is evidenced by the fact that he completely had the whole of Botsawana under his control and ruled much of Zimbabwe. The wrath of his impis were felt as far as beira in Mozambique. It would really be a great honour to the Matebele people of Zimbabwe if a full length feature film or a mini series could be made on the life of this great King. The film could be filmed in Zimababwe or South Africa as the Isindebele and zulu languages are identical and this illustrates the close ties that are shared between these two graet nations.

Sorry for the mistakes - yes we are talking about Zimbabwe and Botswana. With reference to Shaka/Chaka, I have no idea which one is the correct spelling for almost all the books and encyclopedia's i have read give either Chaka or Shaka hence the confusion.

Hello South Africans. I'm happy to see, as a Ndebele, that our King Mzilikazi is being accorded the respect he deserves. We, the children of Mzilikazi and Lobengula are being persecuted by the Shona peoples of Robert Mugabe all becoz we want our kingdom back.

He deserves his place
I think you are right there, King Mzilikazi deserves his place in the sun.He was a great leader and History of Southern Africa or even africa as a whole is incomplete without the mention of his name.

Let me tell you why he isnt as popular as shaka. Because shaka was the dumb ass that gave the whites land exchange for stupid things like mirrors and such. Mzilikazi was a warrier, a fighter. He didnt really fit into the white version of our history, but shaka did, he was cooperative. mzilikazi did not help there course.
So you see, there is a need by white south africa to subconciously show that there was cooperation between white and blacks. And its not just about mzilikazi, what about Bambata, i think he is the most important park of our history, fukc everyone else. Our history is a Lab report, this people came here and studied us like lab rats, and wrote a fukcing Lab Report and called "African History". I spoke my mind, someone speak their's. |
