isnt this a strage name? i mean, the most famous part of SA is called the Cape of Good Hope, when the country has (and is) going though many many problems? it was never really a great place for everyone to live and now, it is from what i can tell, not a great place for anyone. there was apartheid and now AIDS and horrible issues in race relations. kind of ironic huh? i was just thinking about that earliar today...just a thought.

I think the Dutch named it "Kaap de Goede Hoop" originally because for them, it made the spice route possible. The sailors were getting sick from malnourishment. you know, the disease you get if you don't eat enough fresh fruit and veggies? I don't know what it's called in english. Their intent was to start a great little veggie garden there, and ships could stop and get fresh provisions, and fresh hope
I think it is appropriate even today, in RSA the only thing you can have is hope
It's also well-known as the Cape of Storms though, so go figure!

South Africa is not only a country full of hope, but is also a winning nation. One of the best qualities we have as south Africans is to recognise challenges which faces our country and our ability to deal with those challenges

On HIV/Aids not only we have progressive policy in priotirising HIV/Aids in our national and provisial address. We have joined effort, with our beloved traditional healers,Be it Sangoma's and traditional herbalist. This is because our goverment has recognized the need to pay special attention to our traditional medicines, which today has provided promising result in the fight againts HIV/Aids. We have also embark on both educational and preventative measure, We have the lovelife campain and centres, provisions of Neviropine and other drugs which minimise the effect of aids in our comminuty. This campains are being promoted in our communities at school, formal working places and informal working places, clinics and churches. Therefore our communities understand the reality of this desease.

In terms of tourist destinations , we have become one of the most favoured tourist destination in south of Sahara. Holleywood has pump billions in cape town trough film production and talent search. Mpumalanga leading as the best growing industries in SA. All major cities including Johannesburg, Pretoria and other metro cities have been upgraded since the past two years. Go see the Mandela bridge for starters.

We have also join partnership with police and other security forces. in esuring a peaceful and crimefree South Africa. We acknowledge that some of our major challenges such as unemployment contribute to the level of crime. However we are a determine nation. We have specialised units such as the scorpions, child protection units to deal with specialised crime. Our comminuty is start to understand that buying of stolen property promotes crime and is something which is being greatly discourage.

What I really want to say, we have pay a bigger price firstly to transform as a nation, from past injustices and way of doing things, to becoming a nation which recognise its pride and its beauty. We have proven ourself by hosting big and international events, by maintaining our negotiated democracy for about 10yrs now. We have come a long way and payed a heavy price. But we still maintain South Africa is the better place to live. Come and enjoy a dearing experience.

Proudly South Africa

to Malayamerican

Its mentioned that you were born in Here in South Africa and you move to US. Most of my friends who left SA and went overseas rave so much about our country, they miss home and they really have something positive to say about It. I just notice that you might have a bitter experience which you would like to share. because even tough you trying hard to be pitrotic to my country, But I can still pick up the resentment. I could only ask why? the resentment? what could have been so bad?
