IT IS ALSO PROUD TO BE AN "INDIAN "IN SOUTH AFRICA DURING 1940'S.

THERE WAS A MAN,WHO TRANSGRESSED NARROW BOUNDARIES AND BIASSED HUMAN CLASSIFICATIONS AND LEARNT A LOT FROM THAT SOIL.

HE WAS LATER CALLED"THE MAHATMA' WHO GOT US FREEDOM..... AND TILL TODAY HIS PHILOSOPHY HOLDS GOOD FOR MANY REASONS .

I grew up under apartheid and of course we were not taught about Gandhi's having lived in South Africa; there were so many proud historical moments (and too many that are not proud) that we were kept in the dark about. Gandhi was a great inspirer for the struggle leaders, but sadly his non-violent resistance did not work in South Africa and in the 1960s another tactic had to be adopted.

Please feel free to post on our history forum about Gandhi in South Africa and his return to India and the great things he accomplished.

The film won "oscars" which would be more interesting to admire and to understand the POWER of that frail man called GANDHI.

The film also depicts the exact scenario of the south african RACIAL situation ,which extended its dredful tentacles even on an "EDUCATED ATTORNEY"...Mr.Gandhi.

Mr.Gandhi was literally PUSHED OFF from a train in which only" whites "were allowed to travel,and that triggered the "FREEDOM THIRST" in Mr.Gandhi .

Please, do imagine if this COULD happen to an Attorney ,what could be the fate of an illiterate person of those times.

"HUMILITY" is the greatest virtue....GANDHI .
