I am wanting to Emmigrate to South Africa, is this as good an idea as it seems?

I have been considering for some time the new challenge of living and working in South Africa. I have never been, but I do not want a holiday to cloud my judgement!
I am a Mechanical/Production Engineer, what do you think my chances are of success? And what province is the best for this type of work?
Any comments greatly received, good or bad

Hi frazer, saw your post earlier somewhere else. As a mechanical engineer, you'd be best off in Gauteng (Jhb, Pretoria region). Other than that there are probably good chances in Durban (Toyota), East London (DaimlerChrysler), Port Elizabeth (Delta and VW).... Cape Town has more marine based engineering.

Thanks Mar-T for the info, I think I will take your original advice and take and information gathering trip to J'Burg, it seems the flight prices are pretty good!
