The South African Accent

Anyone else agree that the South African accent is the most beautiful accent in the world? After emigrating to America, I have unfortunately lost it. I cannot stand the American accent even though I have it myself.

Anyway, I was referring to the accent a first-language English-speaker would have. As we all know there are many distinctive accents within South Africa. It's funny how people around the world try to say we only have one accent. I wonder how that came about.

I love my SA accent and after 29 years in the US, have not lost it, however I have added some American undertones. I don't mind and when I return to the motherland, will eventually become myself again. My family laugh good-naturedly. One of my brothers said that I could still speak Afrikaans well enough, but the accent, as I try to do it without inserting English words. Very difficult to do sometimes.
