Thank you for the comments. There is a lot of action in the cbd. Hillbrow resembles a building site, with lot of refurbs. But the fall from grace was hard - and allthough bad buildings are dissapearing, a lot remain. And as crackdowns on Hillbrow, Berea and Yeoville intensify - hi-jackers move to doornfontein, malvern etc.
Even in the very posh marshalltown there are problematic buildings. By-law enforcement is better, but problems still remain. Bree Street is a mess with the taxis, and Noord Street taxi rank around JAG and Joubert Park looks better, safer and cleaner, but it is still a disgrace. All in all the city is safe... I walked everywhere (I do this on a weekly basis). |

Oh wow you are a breath of fresh air! And so nice to hear something positive out of JHB. I noticed a huge improvement in safety in Cape Town when I was there in 2005 compared to my previous visit in 2001; so nice to hear that Joburg is on the upswing now too.

I have plan to visit SA once in a life time.though im working on futhering my educational carer in SA, but then I shall feel fulfilled if anybody,even you could help me to gain acess to SA legally.Please your assistance in this regard shalln be absolutely appreciated forever .
