You're on the right track Greg1. You are showing more insight than some of your fellow countrymen. But...

...white criminals in SA do that too.

Just like in any other country.

I hope I did not imply that white criminals didn't operate the same as any others... I may have made an error of omission.

I think one should sum up by saying that because one person from a group acts out, you should not blame the whole group. But unfortunately that happens ever so often. A white farmer beats his black worker to death and immediately all white farmers are accused of being racists. One black criminal attacks and kill a white farmer and the next moment black people are out to get even with the whites for the past.

It is time that we see the criminals in our country for what they are - criminals.

Greg1, sorry dude. I reread your post and I misread it the first time. My Bad. You were right on the money. I think Konsalik’s post is as true as they come:

Accusations like those are should be taken for what they are: media hype. Unfortunately many foreigners fall for these sensational headlines and that gives us a bad reputation and undoes all our hard work in trying to convince the rest of the world that these kinds of actions are not the norm over here.

Unhappy SOUTH Africans' mindsets need to change

Firstly, Hello everyone...this is my first post even though I registered aaages ago.

I read the first two pages of this thread and immediately skipped to the end to post my reply. Why? Because I am sick and tired of the way SOUTH Africans think, Black or white. Coloured or Indian. Note that I put the word SOUTH in bold....I will explain:

I travel extensively throughout South Africa and Africa as a whole. And I noticed something, we South Africans sure do complain a hell of alot when we have so much. I was in Congo a few weeks ago, and they have complaints as well....but its never along racial lines. The same with Botswana and Zambia and several of the other countries that I visited recently. And when I visit, I don't just pop in for a day, I stay for some time so I feel I get a close enough idea of what people in those countries are going through.

Why is everything in this beautiful country STILL about skin colour? With the current "black" government, people are always complaining that things aren't working because its "blacks" running the country. If we are able to think back, we said the same about when the "whites" ran the country. Its not skin colour people, it never is! Its individuals!

This country will only go further than what it already has achieved if people stop comparing past to present, black to white.
I was so proud when I watched Bafana Bafana play Mexico, then the other games too, and for the first time I could hear the National Anthem being sung from START to FINISH by all the spectators. Now what does that tell you?
its time we all stopped blaming every Tom, Dick and Bongani and start leading by example. WE are the masses, so if we start making a difference individually....it will all add up in the end now won't it?

Whites are treated well, but there is still racism lurking around us.Especially in small towns where whites hold the economic power...http://www.southafrica.com/images/fo...es/redface.gif
