Question from an American: Do blacks in SA target whites?

Im sorry, but i dont have different levels of trust and acceptance for people of different race, gender, or ability, but feel free to do what works for all of you..

Keep the spirit of racism alive.. if that is what you want, then go for it.

If it was done your way, and people were judged individualy it would take a long time for whites to earn the same degree of trust or respect in the balck population, this is because there is still a feeling of resntment towards the general white population for the past opression that was incured, but if we worked together we could figure out a way to prove that we are not racists with opressing ideas.
and it is great that you don't feel untrusting of someone of some one of a different race, I to have that luxury as I live in Canada there is not realy any racism. but I know many people in southAfrica who are white and feel unsafe in their homes at night when they sleep, or fear walking down the streets, and can't roll down the windows in there cars becasue when they stop they could get car jacked and the general feeling is that these crimes are generated by black people. and I know blacks who have been cheated in pay at jobs and those who are our servants and have been expolted by us and then there is the ones who are violated by kurupt cops. I know thes senarios can happen to both blacks and whites but there seems to be this general trend. Now these problems are caused indirectly by racism and the past aparthied. but we as whites cannot expect the crime to go away just like that, but mabey if we were able to work together as agroup we could solve so many of these problems and give back to the comunity that we took so so much from and mabey this would prove that we are not sneaky cheates that will frequently exploite and violate our black brothers and sisters. then mabey with out all this feeling of hate we can all come together as one people and solve the other problems that our nation is faced with such as the crime and poverty. But we must get the ball rolling because we started this problem in the first place and if we sit by and wiat for it to go away it just means we must endure more racism, hate, violence, and poverty in our nation.
Furthermore I am a good person and I take offence to the comment about me not taking the time to get to no you I am not at all saying that we should not take into account that people are individuals because i have tried to get to know you I have read many of your posts prior to this one and I think you have great ideas, I just feel as a group we could have more sucess then as individuals in this situation. I don't belive either that we as whites need to work alone I think it would infact be more sucessfull if other races such as blacks and indians could work with us together. But I stand firm in my belife that it is our (whites) responability to initiate the whole thing because like it or not we are a different race and our ansestors were the race who introduced racism.

Unfortunately, I have no influence on any one else, not on any other whites, or any other people of any race.. The only person I can influence to be a decent person is my self. Now if Nubian or Tigger or people like them don't have time for me, unless i prove myself to them.. then I can honestly say "**** them".

Its that simple. Because Nubians skin is black and mine is white, that means nothing.. I owe him nothing. Hey don't get me wrong, I feel regret that mankind are basically *******s and don't know how to treat each other well, but I haven't done anything wrong.

When i joined this civil engineering firm years ago back in South Africa, I worked as hard as anyone, I was in the trenches digging with a pick and shovel,breaking concrete and all the rest. Weather i was forced to do this or not, is besides the point. I worked hard, I had an education, i was at uni studying Civil engineering, but i was still forced to start at the absolute beginning.Learn how to lay pipes, learn how to level.. etc etc getting blisters the works.. i can tell you i have never worked as hard, day in day out, in all my life..

I learned so much from starting at the beginning. I got on with all the labourers, we squated and ate cheap meat off the same shovel over the same fire, we passed around and shared our food, we laughed and sang together..

When i go home sometimes, I go back to the same company and catch up with the Africans I worked with.

What do you think matters to me? Do you think it matters to me that some Africans that don't know me , think less of me simply because i am white.. let me tell you , i couldn't care. I do not need to prove myself to anyone. I have my friends and those that know me, know me for who i am.

I make a difference in my life, and with those people that come into contact with me.. I honestly do not give one ****, for people like Nubian and Tiger.. not one ****, because they are as racist as they come, and none of the Africans I have ever worked with or befriended are anything like these two *******s.

I don't owe the world anything and the world doesn't owe me anything.. I just do my part, which is more then i can say about people who are to engrossed in the past to be able to open up. That my friend is not my problem, neither was it Mandelas.

ps.. this is realy ****ed, because by enlightening everyone to my life, means i am in a way feeling the need to prove my worthyness, which I dont feel I should have to do. Do you understand what im trying to say?

People should not have to bare there sole or prove themselves to be accepted by others... The choice lies in the person who doesnt trust... its there loss or gain if they choose to open up to someone.

Are you an ex south african? If so when did you leave and how old are you? if you dont mind me asking.

Dont be fooled. All races have practiced racism since time began. The Egyptians used Nubian man as slaves. Through out Africa, certian African tribes have felt superior then other African tribes, and as a result have concoured and defeated each other through out time, just as all other races have done.. No race is free of these types of actions.. no race , tribe or nation has not at some stage or the other in some past time been above such things.

Genocide is as rife in Africa as in any other country.

Im not putting Africans down, im just trying to point out, that anyone can be selective with the history they wish to reveal..

This is a blame game, and it can go on and on ... round and round, its not going to change. I hear what you are saying, and yes I agree, we should all do our bit to move forward.

But it starts with your own actions.. dont be worried about other peoples actions, because in the end you have no control on anyone else other then yourself. If you did you part, then you should feel no shame. If you are a good person, then dont worry what anyone else thinks white or black.. Just be the best you can be. I am not going to carry other peoples guilt, Ive got my own life to live.

Racism in SA is by far the worst because of the added insult of being appressed in your land by the thieves of your own land.

Africans in SA I ask that you rise up and fight these crime against your forebearers, you cannot afford to continue being oppressed and ridicled in your own land, the time to rise and make your point is now.

Yoor reply I must say was very moving, and I understand your point of view, although i still hold my own views. I will not bother you anymore and I'm sorry if i made you feel uncomfortable.
You are also right about the slavery issue but i was refering primarily to SouthAfrica but I was not clear in expressing that and that is my fualt but I'm glad you brought it to attention.

So as for what you were wondering
I am living in Canada we moved when I was 18 months and I still have memorys from before we moved. I love SouthAfrica
more then anything I'm planning to come back in 18 months when I'm 21 I can't wait I want to study history then archeaology and do lots of work in poor communitys.
Oh and by the way I'm white mostly (britsih) mixed with brown (indian)and Black most people say I look spanish, but I always tell them that I'm a proud SouthAfrican!!!!!!!! So that about covers everything about me and who I am.
