Sucks for you, hon.
Some advice, though....
(I happen to be an expert on finding things to do)
1) Go out to a singles bar or club for the night
2)If you are a woman, go get a manicure or a new hair style
3) Join a gym. By doing this you'll accomplish two things: get in great shape and meet tons of people (there's never a shortage of people at the local gyms)
4) Take a nap or a long drive in the country. It'll help clear your mind of things.
5) Go out and have fun!

Best of luck to you in this.

Dear Yoman:
Looks like you need to be proactive, not reactive to your situation. How loss impacts your will is directly related to your perspective. Many people lose jobs, spouses, limbs even. And, many times these same people will turn those bad events into something positive. Of course, details of how you lost your job would help me to understand just how bad off you are but, I can tell you this: it isn't going to be the last time this happens to you. Statistics on American workers show that a person will change careers 4 times in their life. In your neck of the woods, that statistic is probably very different. However, in every incident of unemployment that I have personally experienced, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
You have the opportunity to reinvent yourself. Take advantage of it. Not everyone gets that chance. Feel priviledged because you really are.
Or, you can take this attitude:
In the Cat Stevens song "Moonshadow" he sings, "If I ever lose my hands, lose my plow, lose my land; if I ever lose my hands, oh if ... I won't have to work no more."

I end this note with something I tell anyone who reaches out -- The only valuable help or advice you'll get is that which you give to yourself. You can put this behind you, I am sure of it. Good luck.

yoman, i'm sure when you mailed this your day was really bad, but now i bet things have improved, that's the thing with life, nothing stays the same, changes everytime,it always seems as if you'll never get over the bad stuff, but a day later or 2 weeks later, you are surprised that you thought your problem was that much of a big deal. it gets harder but the good stuff becomes nicer. so stick around for another good day okay, as you can see a whole lot of people who don't even know you care a whole lot.so pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over again.
