I am a freelance journalist because it pays a lot more and I get to choose my assignments. I'm sorry you feel that what I write is untrue... perhaps it is safer that you keep your head in the sand.

Strange though... when I returned from my most recent South African assignment (6 months ago) it was horrifying to see just how bad things had become and how desperate 'black' people were to leave.

Good luck to you.

Please tell me why I should believe the facts of a woman who doesn't know the meaning of the word "communist". I thought a journalist's most trusted friend was a dictionary.

Quote:
Cindy: Perhaps you are not aware that the communist regime in South Africa...
There are so many things wrong with that half a sentence I don't care to dignify them with any further attention.

Lady, they are not 'my' facts. And before you pull the race card thing on me let me share a few more statistics with you - these numbers have nothing to do with politics or apartheid or race or whatever label you'd like to hang on me next - these are pure hard facts given to me by Interpol, the South African Human rights Council, the CIA, the United Nations, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the Medical Research council and the World Economic Forum, among others.

In South Africa there are 120 murders every day.
Every 26 seconds a woman is raped.
60% of the armed forces are HIV positive.
There is a 40% unemployment rate.
One in every three policemen is illiterate.
1 in 5 people will be dead or dying of Aids within the next ten years.
700 organised crime syndicates operate freely in South Africa.
More policemen in South Africa are killed every week than in a whole year in Britain.
58 infants (one year old or younger) are raped every year. This is because traditional black healers convince African men that raping a child will cure Aids.
South Africa has the highest recorded per capita murder rate, second only to Columbia.
In the USA the murder rate is 6 in100,000. In South Africa it is 59 in 100,000.
The population stands at 46–million. Only 13-million voted in the most recent elections yet the ANC has convinced the world and the South African people that the elections were fair and representative – how is 28% representative?
Less than 1 in 10 murders is in any way punished by the legal system.
South Africa is the most murderous society on earth. In the 42 years of apartheid, there were 7,036 murders a year during a time of great conflict – in the first 8 years of peace, there have been an underestimated 24, 200 murders a year. In reality though, Interpol states the murder rate during ANC rule is 48,000 per year.
South Africa has the highest rape statistics in the world.
It is the most dangerous country outside a war zone.
In the last 20 years murder has increased by 350%.
The constitution declares that everyone has the right to life (except for unborn babies, that is) and saves murderers because they have scrapped the death penalty.
71% of South Africans want the death penalty back.
Organised crime is second only to Columbia.
There is widespread corruption in the police force – 1 in 4 officers is under criminal investigation.
The easiest way for the police to reduce the crime rate is to do nothing, and not to record it – only when a police number is mandatory will it be recorded.
In a society where organised crime and violence is rampant, the ANC government has inexplicably turned it’s attention to disarming the victims of crime with even stricter gun laws and more control of licensed firearms, but they have chosen to do nothing about unlicensed firearms.
Mbeki and Mandela have created new ways to cover up their inadequacies. They have found new ways to censor the news and cover up their ineptitude. When reporting violent crime, journalists have to get the okay from the authorities. The ANC declares there should be no more violent crime reporting because South Africans must focus 'optimistic thoughts'.
Terrorists attacked a crowded church the year after Mandela’s release. A group of 4 well-armed men threw grenades and opened fire in what was to be known as the St. James church massacre. The commander of the Marxist group who orchestrated the murders has proudly written a book and claims that the reason he chose St. James Church was because ‘the congregation would be all white and they would be unarmed.’ At his book launch he stated that whites must share responsibility for the massacre. He also stated that the way to heal HIS wounds was to meet the survivors. He further said that the people had been betrayed by the ANC and that black people may resort to this type of violence. He also said that the deaths in Zimbabwe will only pale in comparison to what is going to happen to the whites in South Africa.
During a TRC meeting PAC members stated that they were given orders to attack and kill farmers. One PAC member stated that blacks were potentially dangerous and said that ‘we will teach our children to change legislation to give the land to the blacks, and when the blacks hit back they will hit back hard.’ These people are murderers and walked free because they told their story before the TRC.
15,000 armed farm attacks have been recorded by the police, killing 1,647 farmers.
Farm attacks have increased by 83% in the past decade.
The CIA and Interpol report that South African farmers have the most dangerous job in the world – 313 in 100,000 are violently killed. The farmers are tortured and killed, the women are raped. Children are not spared.

And the ANC's response to their ineptitude with regards to crime is the usual – playing the race card and blaming it all on the apartheid years.

Bury your head a little deeper still if you wish but the facts will not go away.

SB,

I’d like to ask you something before I start replying to your posts.

What is the intention, motivation, aim or point, behind your posts? What are you here to achieve?

Jason

Well, Cindy, you've made it abundantly clear why you haven't lived in South Africa since 1998.

Unfortunately, all those crime statistics don't add up to a "communist regime". In fact, they don't add up to "communist" or "regime" in isolation.

Your misuse of statistics is unsurprising.

You neglected to remove the proportion of the 48-million who are under voting age. Perhaps with that number adjusted, the 13-million voters will add up to a larger proportion of the population. Unfortunately it has been over a decade since the apartheid government thrust population distributions down my throat, but I'd hazard a guess that a significant (say 30-40%) proportion of the population is below voting age. You're really good a punching numbers into calculators, you calculate the new percentage.

Your further ignorance of South African politics - particularly during apartheid - is also unsurprising.

If you'd bothered to read Madiba's Long Walk To Freedom, you'd discover that the PAC broke away from the ANC in 1959 and that Madiba was particularly scathing of the PAC. He later admitted that the book was "little more than a political pamphlet", however, I'm sure that the PAC's post-amnesty activities did not bring joy to him.

At the time of the attacks (I know people who were in the church at the time), it was widely accepted that the closely-timed Heidelburg Tavern and St James's Church massacres were chosen because they were multiracial venues. As surprising as this would seem, in fact it's in line with the PAC's africanist stance. Their 1994 electoral slogan was "One Settler, One Bullet."

Really, woman, you should shut up now and go read about the country you like to slate at every opportunity.

Says she from America?

Maybe you should contact Interpol, the CIA, the TRC etc. and tell them their facts are wrong. You clearly know much more than they jointly do.

I'll let you have your soap box back again as this is becoming somewhat tedious. But dig a little deeper soon you will be totally submerged in the sand.

SB,

Why dont you go do some work for FOXNEWS, I think you would sit well on there side of the fence.

Any reason why you have purposfully come onto the site to trash a country that the majority of people on this forum love with a passion?

Could it be that you are so bitter about thwe fact that we can be so passionate about the country of our birth, whilst the best you can do is wallow in your own negativity.

I think the downward spiral you are trying to educate us on is in fact a true reflection of your own life, but instead of taking it on foryourself, you feel the need to come here share it with us, as if that will make you feel better about who you are.... no chance.

Your stuck with your own bull****, and we will stick with the country we love.

Seeya biatch
