It's not the lack of formal education that makes Zuma an undesirable leader, it's his blatant lying and distorted reality. How does one stomach his rallies in the townships promising socialism to end poverty and then hopping on an aeroplane to the West and assuring business leaders that he will not alter monetary policy one bit lest SA suffer disinvestment again? How is he qualified to lead the country with the highest HIV prevalence when his own method of preventing the disease is to take a shower after sex with an HIV+ woman?

There should be a way that the ANC leadership can come down on Zuma and maybe compensate him with a view to making him step aside. White people complain about Mugabe but in my own opinion, I think Mugabe has been a victim of racial politics, Zuma on the other hand is not fit to lead a country like SA. I fear he will be a disaster, running a modern states these days, one needs an educated and enlightened leadership. Zuma will not provide that!

why should zuma be the next president if he needs strong support staff to guide him, surely that would make him not the best person for the job? just my view but people in south africa are too party loyal, I know people who disagree with what the anc are doing now but are still going to vote for them because they are loyal to the party. I think that is wrong, people should vote for the party that is best for the time. not because of what they have done in the past. We should all be thankful to the ANC for leading the apartied resistance but that doesn't mean we should vote for them because of that. But rather because they will implement the policies you think will be best for the country and if they aren't going to implement the polices you think best then you shouldn't be voting for them

Tapey I wholeheartedly agree about party loyalty. The ANC should have split maybe as much as 4 years ago, because ideologically there are some diverse opinions within the party, leading to strife and division instead of open democratic debate, but nobody wants to abandon the party of Mandela, Sisulu, Thambo, Lutuli, Mini, Seme, etc.

Oh really mate? That's funny because my friend who is a skilled worker couldn't get a job at a power company because of AA.

The injustice we have experienced both historically and in today's world makes affirmative action not only imparative but also necessary. Whites continue to dominate as a result of the fact that they have been beneficiaries of the racism that they themselves started. Afirmative action will continue for the foreseeable future until a more level playing field has been established and proven to be so.

With regards to Zuma, this is the nature of the beast I am afraid. According to the SA constitution, the leader of the party that wins the general elections becomes the President, I did not make those rules but the whole of SAs contituency assembly decided upon this many years ago. His qualifcations on the other hand is a completely different matter, that is why I say the best SA can hope for is that he be managed - I fear those whites who hate Mugabe will soon see him as the lesser of two evils when compared to Zuma.Mark my words, soon the days of wishing for Mbeki will be upon you.

I believe Affirmative Action should stay but it should be reformed so that it targets the people who were at a disadvantage only.

As for wishing for Mbeki, well I already do want him instead of Zuma. Mbeki is starting a new political party from what I heard. American news doesn't cover these topics too well but maybe the new party will win?
