I guess khayelitsha is the largest township in s.a. coz soweto is a group of townships close to each other, while they expanded they became one large township. Its the same like soshanguve, mabopane, winterveldt etc they are now becoming pretoria,s largest township known as NOWETO, which simply means NOrth WEstern TOwnships just like SOWETO

I don't think soweto is the biggest township in South Africa because it consits of smaller townships, not blocks. like Soshanguve, the township has blocks, i.e block 'H', block 'K' etc, while soweto townships have thier own blocks or zones, so to say. Like diepkloof; it has zone 1 to zone 6. I mean, it's a township on its own, like soshanguve. therefore, i don't think soweto in laggest because it's one a township, but many little townships grouped together.

What a lovely casino. Being there many times and even stayed in hotel - always a positive experience. BUT - I had 2 bad experiences in the underground parking in the last 3 months. When I parked to see CATS - my car was bumped and the car attendant said he was at the other side - did not see it. Yesterday - I parked between two poles with one parking number - and was totally parked in and the attendants asked me to sort it out myself by getting in on the left side because he said he was on the other side when it must have happened. I am starting to think that Monte should pay us to park there and not the other way round. PLEASE ATTEND TO THESE ISSUES - I am not scared to park there.

Way to go South Africa. Good to see all the great shows you've put up in 2009 and before leading to the FIFA World Cup in 2010. It's impressive so I am definitely coming. I need a student campus flat/suite/dormitory type of accommodation for June 10 to June 30 2010 = 21 nights in Pretoria or Johanessburg. I have contacted UP & UJ but no positive results. FIFA-MATCH is not displaying such modest accommodation either. Please where do I turn? Do you have colleges or seminaries or somewhere with safe and modest reasonable accommodation. Make it a good day, cheers

Good morning, my name is Bianca. I have a strange request but maybe you can refer me to someone that can help me. I'm getting married next year October and I would like to have something completely different in my Chapel service, I'd like a eagle or owl to fly in the so called wedding rings from the back of the chapel to the front. Would you be able to help me with something like this or do you perhaps know who I could contact who could help me. thank you Bianca

Thank you for your interest in SouthAfrica.com. You are correct in saying that the name Soweto is derived from South Western Township, and consists of a series of smaller areas that have been grouped together. Soweto is nevertheless generally considered to be a township. According to Wikipedia, Khayelitsha in Cape Town is considered to be the largest single township in South Africa, although a substantial portion of what has been incorporated into Khayelitsha consists of "informal settlements". So it really depends on the definition of "township" when deciding which is the largest in South Africa. Kind regards, SouthAfrica.com Team
