Santarama Miniland - A Tiny Land of Wonder
To describe the Santarama Miniland in Johannesburg, is almost impossible, because of the skill, craftsmanship and foresight that has gone into this Johannesburg attraction. The Santarama Miniland has most of South Africa’s history, important buildings and even international icons on display, in mini form!
Santarama Miniland was established by an extremely important organization in South Africa, called SANTA. This organization saves countless lives each year through their promotion of Tuberculosis control in South Africa. They launched Santarama Miniland in 1973, to provide them with a steady income to assist in their cause. Each visitor to this attraction in Johannesburg assists in their own small way to the fight against TB. In order to keep the mini attractions updated and interesting, Santa relies on the generosity and support of big Companies to sponsor a model of their choice.
There are interactive mini entertainments to take part in, such as mini golf, with a lifelike Michael Jackson watching over the golfers. Take a mini train ride or go boating on a mini ferry. Around the park you will find the Port Elizabeth Campanile, Robben Island, a game park, scrap yard, Turffontein Racecource, and even King Kong!!
Within the park, you will also find an amazing replica of the Dromedaris, overlooking the Jan Smuts Airport (now OR Tambo Airport). This interesting ship can be used as a venue for parties, functions, events and weddings, complete with spit braai facilities, dance floor and full bar.
The Santarama Miniland also welcomes children’s birthday parties, which they set up in the safe and enclosed Kids Zazoo Party and Play Centre. The Kids Zazoo Party and Play Centre will keep the children occupied for hours, while the parents take some time off. Therefore, the Santarama Miniland was not only created for the raising of funds or amusement of children, but for the amazement of adults and a memorable experience. So, if you are looking to find a truly enjoyable and rewarding Johannesburg attraction, or simply want to escape to a life on a smaller, less complicated scale, come visit the Santarama Miniland.

I went with my kids to miniland on the 1st of December 2010 and was dissapointed remembering how everything worked with power and how it use to look like. Please guys we have to put helping hands together so our children can see why we liked it so much. If the owner is reading this please e-mail us and tell us what we can do to make it the old miniland it use to be. To be honest i told my kids: this is the first time you see the place and will be the last cause i think next time it wont exist. Please this is important for everyone to experience, so lets help. I will go again even though it is not what it use to be but would love to see the old miniland. Sorry i thought the big statue was Avatar not Michael Jackson but i am glad the the owner thought of putting him there cause he is a part of our history. Please you as the owner contact me and let me know what is needed for this wonderfull place. Vere conserned.

I agree with Lida Botha's comments above. We recently visited Santarama with my grand daughter and found the venue pleasing to visit but is in a state of neglect, dis-repair and lacking good management or supervision. Basic cleanliness and repair is required to ensure public health ans safety. A disaster waiting to happen.
