Ladysmith

Ladysmith is north of Colenso along the N11, founded in 1850 it was a focal point in the Anglo Boer War and was under siege for 115 days. Momentums of the battles fought may be seen in the Siege Museum. The Town Hall acted as a hospital, but was still shelled by the Boers, who did not believe that the Red Cross flag was genuine.

Ladysmith offers fine accommodation, and facilities include a country club, sport venues, an aerodrome, and water sports at the Windsor Dam.
