Natal Midlands - Evergreen Landscapes and Hills
The evergreen rolling hills and valleys of the Natal Midlands really is a piece of paradise, far removed from the frantic pace of the modern world. This scenic region of KwaZulu Natal draws visitors from far and wide to explore its pine forests, pastures, lakes, rivers, dams, waterfalls, nature reserves, historical battle sites, Zulu cultural villages and picturesque towns.
Lying between Pietermaritzburg and the Drakensberg, the Natal Midlands incorporates the Midmar Nature Reserve, Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve, and the stunning Howick Falls, as well as the towns of Mooiriver, Rosetta, Hilton, Balgowan and Nottingham Road. The crystal clear rivers running through the Natal Midlands offer some of the country’s best fishing spots, with fly-fishing being particularly popular. Hiking, horse riding and mountain biking are great ways to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, while many of the lakes and dams offer a variety of water sports.
Many a decisive battle in South Africa’s history was fought in the Natal Midlands area. This is where the British, Boers and Zulus clashed repeatedly and the battlefields have been preserved for their historical value. An excellent way to explore the Natal Midlands is by means of the Midlands Meander which takes meanderers on a journey of discovery between Pietermaritzburg and Mooiriver. Certainly, it is well worth spending some time in this fascinating region of KwaZulu Natal.

We have always loved the midlands,it's like coming home.Are now selling our home in Kaapsehoop,Mpumalanga to relocate.We have spent of our very best holidays there.
