An Exquisite Round of Golf at Salt Rock Country Club

North of Shaka’s Rock and Ballito, is the relaxing holiday resort of Salt Rock. Salt Rock got its name from the volatile days of King Shaka’s rule. At low tide, King Shaka’s maidens would collect dried salt off the rocks, which in turn was used for trade purposes with passing settlers. The tranquility and calm of Salt Rock, is even through in holiday atmosphere portrayed by locals and residence alike. Salt Rock is the perfect combination between well deserved relaxation for the city dweller and activity.

Salt Rock has a hotel and camping site available, but it is the Salt Rock Country Club that offers the best of both worlds. Their facilities include tennis, swimming pools, billiard tables, a boccia pitch and many other sport facilities. Salt Rock Country Club also offers fishing, with active fishing spots and breathtaking off-shore reefs.

The main beach in Salt Rock has trained lifeguards on duty every day of the week, to ensure the safety of all the visitors. The tidal pool, close to the main beach, was originally built for use by the hotel guests.

Even though Salt Rock is a holiday resort, it is closely located to many attractions, such as The Flagfarm, and animal farm for children, Microlight landing strip which offers scenic coastline flights, Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom, Crocodile Farm and Reptile Park (which offers paint balls and quad bike trails), horse riding through the sugar cane fields, and plenty more exciting adventures. Situated 25 minutes drive from Gateway Shopping and Entertainment Centre, this center is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, accommodating movie, imax and barnyard theatres, arcade games for children, restaurants, 4x4 trails and a skateboard park.

If you are seeking wildlife such as lions, elephants, buffalo and other game unique to Africa, Salt Rock is only an hours drive from game reserves such as Umfolozi, Hluhluwe and Mkuze Game Reserves. And if it is a cultural experience you are seeking, you will be an hour and a half away from uShakaland, which will transport you back to Shaka and his Zulu warriors, whilst lapping up the live marine life exhibits.
