TSONGA traditional healers (sangoma's) by Ton van der Lee for Spirits of Africa
A group of sangoma's of the Tsonga people on the border of Zimbabwe and South Africa have formed an association 'so we can work openly and not be accused of witchcraft'. The film is a portrait of Mpephu, an experienced female herbalist and healer; John Kaidi, one of the founders of the association, and Moses Magotse, traveling sangoma.They have strong beliefs about the importance of traditional healing. It features a ceremony under a huge baobab.
