- the national - by the Frown remixed track by Petite noir. [04:09]
This concept video is the visual manifestation of part 1 of the quote below, 2011 to 2012. made in collaboration with Via Studios. Special thanks To MJ Turpin & Rob Hannah (part two to follow) "2011 has undoubtedly been the year of the revolution. In South Africa, the establishment of the Police Protection Unit in response to increased outbreaks of violent protest, speaks of a growing need to manage civil unrest. On a global scale, waves of disillusionment have swept through youth culture; giving rise to what WGSN calls the 'radical revolutionaries' -- politically and environmentally conscious youth who have grown up immersed in Internet culture and who use technology to create social change. This form of digital activism or 'clicktivism' is on the rise, as youth across the globe are harnessing the power of social media to organize campaigns and protests. Disgruntled by corporate greed, radical revolutionaries are calling for transparency, honesty and accountability from brands (and governments). Important considerations for these young people are the future of the environment, the effects of mass-consumerism, access to education and escalating debt amongst their peers. Brands that address these issues earnestly and show genuine support for the plight of the youth will enjoy the approval of the radical revolutionaries, who will show their support through promotion in their personal networks. LEE Jeans South Africa - This City Is Mine (uncensored) [06:59]
Lee Jeans launched a new campaign called "The City Is Mine". To celebrate this in South Africa 3 rooftop parties were thrown. Each party was unique to its city. The above film is the story of what went down at the Durban event. There was zero budget, but allot of love and rock n roll. Street Scene were tasked with organizing, running and marketing the event. This video showcases what happened when a proudly Durban company, ties in with a rocking label in a celebration of a city they both love. Directed and edited by Allister Heath, special effects by Gav Letsoalo, actor Brad Backhouse, production assistant Martin Barrios. Backing track Fire by The La Els.

The Key Ceremony and The Firing of the Signal Cannon, Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town, South Africa [02:08]
Built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company (VOC - Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie in Dutch) as a maritime replenishment station, the Castle of Good Hope (Afrikaans: Kasteel die Goeie Hoop) is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa. The purpose of the Dutch settlement in the Cape was to act as a replenishment station for ships passing the treacherous coast around the Cape on long voyages between the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) From 1678 it was the centre of civilian, administrative and military life at the Cape, until the settlement grew and some functions and activities moved away from the Castle. The Castle was never attacked. Various people have indicated that they have seen ghosts at the Castle. Today the Castle is the seat of the military in the Cape, and houses the Castle Military Museum and Iziko Museums of Cape Town (William Fehr Collection). The Key Ceremony is performed Weekdays at 10h00 and 12h00, followed by the firing of the Signal Cannon.
