V Blog Gauteng - Oh Mai Mai [05:49]
Jeffrey, the hospitable fellow that he is, picked me up again this morning to show me some very different sides of inner city Johannesburg. We began the morning by cruising by a local market where traditional healers practice. This was truly fascinating, for many reasons, not least of all because this is nearly completely used by locals. But this doesn't mean that there aren't some great knick knacks to be picked up by those of us that aren't locals. Its a proper local cooperative market, of the style that are very fashionable in London right now. What interested me is that its a wholly different way of operating within the city from people like Jeremy and Hayleigh, and yet both sides coexist alongside one another. Every day I get a stronger sense that this city has a lot to offer hugely different types of people.
