Clarens South Africa [02:29]
The village of Clarens is situated in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains in close proximity to the Golden Gate National Park and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. Clarens is an Artists haven with many well known artists either living in or frequenting the village on a regular basis with many art galleries scattered around the village square. The tranquil village ambience combined with scenic views and a mild climate makes for the ideal weekend getaway for city dwellers from Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and Durban. These cities are all approximately 300km from Clarens or a comfortable 3 to 4 hours drive away. The village has become know as the "Jewel of the Free State" - rich in beauty, with an aura of peace and tranquillity. Clarens is endowed with more trees than most other Free State towns - the fresh, light green willows and colourful blossoms of the many fruit trees are an unforgettable sight in spring time; whilst the magnificent autumn shades of the lombard poplars attract artists, photographers and nature lovers. The town is known for the many Art and Craft shops which offer the visitor a wide range of curios and original artwork. Another feature which adds to the picturesque atmosphere of the village is the many sandstone buildings. The popular Golden Gate National Park is located in the near vicinity of Clarens, and the area attracts many visitors. Courtesy of Clarens Tourism

South Africa Hout Bay.mov [02:14]
The Odyssey Group takes a quck tour of famed Hout Bay near Cape Town South Africa. Its the jump off point for Seal Island. Wikipedia: Hout Bay is a popular tourist attraction among both local and international visitors. There are a variety of restaurants in the village as well as two hotels (the Hout Bay Manor and the Chapman's Peak Hotel), many bed and breakfasts and self-catering accommodation where visitors can stay. The harbour is a worthwhile visit, as there are spectacular views of the bay and boat rides to Duiker Island and around the Sentinel. Chapman's Peak Drive is one of the world's most scenic mountain drives and has recently undergone renovations to ensure the safety of travellers using the route. The East and West forts built by the Dutch in the 18th century can also be visited, with the original cannons and barracks still standing on the slopes of Chapman's Peak. The East fort is the oldest operating gun battery in the world. The mountains surrounding Hout Bay also make for good hiking trails. In the same area is the bronze statue of a leopard looking out over the ocean.

South Africa 2011 - Part 5 [27:46]
Video and images of a fourth trip to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, 30th August - 1st September 2011. This is the oldest game reserve in Africa and covers some 960 km² (approx. 371 sq. miles) in central Zululand, KwaZulu-Natal - about 280 km north of Durban and close to the town of Mtubatuba and Hluhluwe village. It's about an hour or so west of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands (driving sedately). The word 'Hluhluwe' comes from the isiZulu word that describes the thorny rope climber, a plant prevalent in the park, with some very nasty thorns - best avoided while dandering about foot trails. The whole area is pure joy.
