Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens

With the majestic Table Mountain as a back drop, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are an awesome sight to behold. Founded in the year 1913, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens cover an area of 528 hectares, displaying the diversity and wonder of the natural forests and flora that are found in South Africa. It focuses mainly on exhibiting indigenous plants, but there are some exceptions and staff continuously offer programs and feature plants of the week to keep the gardens interesting and updated.

Beautifully maintained trails and hiking paths allow visitors to enjoy the magnificence of the gardens and its wildlife at their own pace, and boards along the way advise visitors of the plants they are looking at and their features. There is also a restaurant, greenhouse and picnic spots to enjoy. Throughout the gardens visitors will be able to view artistic sculptures from Zimbabwean sculptors. The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens can also be hired as a venue, and in summer it opens it picturesque lawns to outdoor concerts. Visiting this breathtaking attraction in Cape Town is a very rewarding experience and wonderful excursion.
